  • India and Scotland are set to meet in men's T20Is for the first time; India have logged just one win from their three Super 12 games so far at this ICC Men's T20 World Cup (L2), while Scotland remain the only winless team in Group 2 (L3).
  • This will be just the second time in men's T20Is that India have faced a team which does not currently participate in Test cricket; their only previous such fixture was a nine-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates in March 2016.
  • India's 66-run win over Afghanistan in their last men's T20I snapped a four-game losing streak away from home for them in the format; they had won nine of their 12 away games prior to that span (T2, L1).
  • Scotland have lost 13 of their last 17 men's T20Is against Test-playing nations (W3, T1), including their last two on the bounce; the last time they lost more successive games against full member teams was a seven-game stretch from July 2015 to June 2018.
  • Scotland come into this game on the back of three straight defeats in men's T20Is; the last time they went longer without a win was a four-game stretch from January 2017 to June 2018.
  • India have taken just three wickets during the power play of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the joint-fewest of any team in the competition in that period (also Papua New Guinea).
  • Scotland have dropped just two of their 13 catch attempts during the Super 12 stage of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup; only Namibia (1) have dropped fewer catches during this stage.
  • George Munsey (49) is set to make his 50th T20I appearance, becoming just the sixth player to log a half century of appearances for Scotland in the men's format; he's scored 20+ runs in each of his last four T20I innings against a Test-playing nation including a half century against Zimbabwe in September 2021.
  • Rohit Sharma (2,952) is 48 runs shy of becoming the third player – and second for India – to score 3,000 runs in men's T20Is (Kohli, Guptill); Sharma has logged four 60+ run scores in his last eight innings in the format.
  • KL Rahul (India) has finished three of his last four T20I innings with a batting good connection rate of 80% or higher after having not done so in any of his six innings in the format prior.
