Regarded as one of the all-time great spinners India has ever produced, Ravichandran Ashwin was born on 17 September 1986 in Chennai. The right-arm off-spinner from Tamil Nadu is known for the his carrom balls and often dubbed as one of the most shrewd bowlers of the last decade. The all-rounder has, in recent years, also worked on his batting and developed himself as a reliable batter lower-down the order. He is also the first Indian to slam a century and grab a fifer in the same Test match on two separate occasions. He won the ICC Test Player of the Year and ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2016. The Tamil Nadu cricketer burst into the scene during the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008. An uncapped Ashwin was picked up by Chennai Super Kings but the youngster didn't get many chances to show his talent. But in 2010 IPL season he made his impression and started maintaining an upward curve in world cricket. He played big role in CSK winning the IPL trophy twice in 2010 and 2011. Ashwin's international career has been flattering, to say the least. Apart from being a regular in all three formats of the game - over the years Ashwin has broken a number of records and is still growing. He is the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50-, 100-, 150-, 200-, 250-, 300-, 350-,400-, and 450- Test wickets. Ashwin's father, Ravichandran, was also a cricketer and played cricket at the club level. The 6 feet 2 inches spinner is happily married to Prithi Narayanan. They are blessed with two kids.
