Born on 31st March 1992 in Shell Harbour city, Adam Zampa is an Australian cricketer who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He is a leg-spin bowler and a lower-order right-handed batsman.
At the 2023 IPL auction, Rajasthan Royals paid Rs 1.5 crores to acquire the Australian leg-spinner. Prior to Rajasthan Royals, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2020 and now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants in the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons.
He picked up the second-best figures for any bowler in the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League when he recorded 6/19 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Due to his impressive domestic numbers and stint in the Indian Premier League and Big Bash League, Zampa soon was drafted into the senior set-up for ODI and T20 games. He made his ODI debut on 6 February 2016 in Chappell–Hadlee Trophy series while his T20 debut came against South Africa on 4 March 2016.
Although he is yet to make his debut in the longer format, he has long held the top position as the white-ball spinner in Australia. Particularly in T20 games, he has been a difficult player to get away with due to his changes in speed and variations.
He was a major contributor in Australia's victory in the T20 World Cup in 2021, coming in second on the wickets list with 13 from seven games and a 5.81 economy rate. He played an instrumental role in Australia's 2-1 triumph in the ODI series against India in 2023.
Adam's father, Darren Zampa, was also a cricketer and played cricket for New South Wales. The 5 feet 9 inches spinner is happily engaged to Hattie Leigh Palma. He also loves dogs, and he has a pet dog named Zaidee.
