Devon Conway IPL Profile

Born and brought up in South Africa, Devon Conway is a New Zealand cricketer who represents Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. With solid skills and a wide range of strokes, Conway has become known for his ability to bat in the top order and anchor innings with some explosive shots.

Conway made his first-class debut as a youngster in 2009, but he was never able to gather enough runs or show enough consistency to get the attention of selectors in South Africa. In order to develop his cricketing career, he relocated to New Zealand in 2017.

The move turn out to be a successful stint as Conway secured a contract with Wellington in 2018. The wicket-keeper batsman produced some of the best displays in this period. He became the leading run-scorer in the 2018–19 Super Smash and the 2018–19 Plunket Shield season. 

He was also handed the Men's Domestic Player of the Year at the annual New Zealand Cricket Awards. On the back of his impressive display in domestic colours, Conway finally got his reward with a call-up to the BlackCaps team.

He made his T20I debut against West Indies in 2020. Having announced himself with a dazzling 59-ball 99* in a T20I against Australia in February 2021, he began his Test career in the same style and smashed a few batting records. 

The left-handed batsman scored a double ton in his debut, recording the highest score by a men's Test debutant in England in 2021. Since then he has been an integral part of the Black Caps and is one of their best batters. He was bought by CSK for his base price of Rs. 1 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and he experienced an impressive campaign with 252 runs on board. He was retained by the franchise for the 2023 edition as well.
