Axar Patel IPL Profile

Axar Rajeshbhai Patel is an international Indian cricketer born on January 20, 1994, in Gujarat. Patel is a left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox bowler, who plays in all cricket formats. The all-rounder, who made his first-class debut for Gujarat in 2012, had a breakthrough 2013–14 Ranji Trophy season as he was one of the team's most consistent players. 

He soon converted it into a stellar show during the 2014 IPL, which opened the doors for the Indian team as he made his ODI debut in the series against Bangladesh. Axar was soon part of India's squad for the 2015 World Cup. He later made his T20 International debut for India against Zimbabwe in the same year. 

Patel, however, struggled to keep his place in the Indian team as he has been an understudy to senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Patel's Test debut had to wait untill 2021 when he was named in the squad for the home series against England in February. He made the most out of the opportunity as he became the ninth Indian spinner to take a five-for on debut. He did so in the England's second innings. 

Axar's first season in the IPL was in 2013 with Mumbai franchise but he did not get a chance to play that season. But a move to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) the following season helped him become an established name in the competition with 17 wickets in a breakthrough season. Notably, during a match against the Gujarat Lions, he took four wickets in five balls for KXIP and recorded the first (and only) hat-trick of the 2016 IPL season.

Because of his consistent play, the Delhi Capitals invest Rs 5 crore in him during the 2019 IPL Auction. Even he has been signed by Delhi capitals for the 2023 season for Rs 12.00 Crore.

Axar Patel had been engaged to Meha Patel (dietician and nutritionist) for over a year before finally getting married on January 26 2023, in Vadodara, Gujarat.
