Born in Auckland, New Zealand on 30 December 1994 Kyle Jamieson is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who can also bat in the lower middle-order for the team. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, the New Zealand international is one of the tallest persons ever to play the game. He uses his height as his advantage while bowling and has earned repute for his ability to deliver some quick bouncers.
In the 2014 U-19 World Cup, he represented New Zealand and finished as the second-joint-highest wicket-taker for his squad. Canterbury hired him for the upcoming season after his outstanding performance. However, Jamieson struggled to make an impact in his initial domestic cricket. But after a strong domestic season in 2019, he was drafted into the national team set-up.
He made his debut on the international stage during a home ODI fixture against Team India in Auckland on February 8, 2020. Jamieson won the Man of the Match award on his ODI debut by scoring 25 runs and dismissing Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini.
He made his test debut in the same stretch against India. He won the Player of the Match award in his second Test after a five-wicket haul in the first innings which helped them get a victory in the game.
Jamieson won the honor of the man of the match in the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship Final after taking seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings. He received his first T20I cap against West Indies in 2020.
On the back of his outstanding display, Royal Challengers Bangalore roped him into IPL Auction 2021 for a whopping Rs 15 crore. However, he was released in the following season. At December's mini-auction, CSK signed him for Rs 1 crore ahead of IPL 2023 season. However, a lower back injury ruled him out of the IPL.
