Dhruv Chand Jurel IPL Profile

Born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on January 21, 2001, Dhruv Jurel is an Indian wicketkeeper batsman. He is known for playing domestic cricket for the Uttar Pradesh team and IPL franchise cricket for Rajasthan Royals. The right-handed batter mostly plays in the middle-order and has some explosive hits under his sleeve. His batting style has also been compared with Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Jurel comes from a humble background. His father is an army officer, and Kargil war veteran Nem Singh Jurel. In his formative years, he dreamt of pursuing the same. However, cricket slowly started catching his attention. Although he had to struggle during the journey to make cricket his passion. At one point in his career, his mother even had to sell her jewelry.

Jurel first caught the eye after leading the India U19 side to the 2019 Asia Cup title. He also served as the vice-captain of the squad at the 2020 U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, where India ended as the runners-up. He made his T20 debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2020-21 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and has been a vital member of the unit since then. His impressive performance in the tournament also hands him a place in the Ranji Trophy team in 2021-22.

The IPL 2023 season, he made his debut for Rajasthan Royals. Jurel was picked up by the 2022 runners-up side in the dying moments with a base price of Rs. 20 lakh.
