Manish Krishnanand Pandey is an Indian international cricketer, who represents Karnataka in domestic cricket. Pandey was born on September 10, 1989, in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India.
Pandey joined the Karnataka Cricket Association (KCA) and began his cricket career as a middle-order right-handed player. Due to his outstanding skill, he gained attention and was swiftly chosen for India's Under-19 squad. Pandey was a member of the Indian Under-19 side that won the ""2008 U-19 World Cup"" in Malaysia; however, he didn't get a chance to play any match. Despite this, he quickly made a name for himself with a record-breaking Ranji season in 2009–10, scoring 882 runs and finishing as the highest run-getter with four 100s and five 50s at an average of 63.
Regarding Manish's IPL career, he was given a chance to play for the Mumbai Indians during the 2008 IPL season after being a part of a 2008 U-19 World Cup. The following year he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and made a record. He became the first Indian player to score a century in the IPL.
Back in 2011, Manish Pandey played three IPL seasons with the now-defunct Pune Warriors after two seasons with RCB. He eventually tasted IPL success in 2014 with Kolkata Knight Riders as he fit into the middle order as a crucial team member. Notably, he played a match-winning innings of 94 against Kings XI Punjab and was awarded Man of the Match.
His consistency in the league also opened the door for the Indian teams for him. On July 14, 2015, Pandey played in his first One Day International (ODI) for India against Zimbabwe. On the same tour, he made his Twenty20 International debut for India on July 17, 2015.
In his last season with KKR in 2017, Pandey was an influential member again after two quiet seasons as he averaged close to 50 in the side's run to Qualifier 2. His performance didn't go unnoticed as he turned out to be among the most expensive player at the 2018 IPL auction with Sunrisers Hyderabad spending 11 crore on him. The batter made notable contributions as SRH finished runners-up to Chennai Super Kings that season.
He remained a key member as SRH reached playoffs in the next two seasons as well. However, a poor show in 2021 led to his ouster before 2022's mega auction, where the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants bagged him.
Pandey's career, however, continued to go downhill as his poor show in the subsequent season saw the side release him after a season. Delhi Capitals caught hold of the player for the 2023 season and was among the few consistent faces in the team as the side finished among the bottom positions.
