Rasikh Salam Dar is a young Indian fast bowler with a promising future in cricket. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Dar's talent has been evident since his early days, showcasing his skills across various domestic formats. Despite a setback in 2019 due to a discrepancy with his birth certificate that led to a two-year ban, Dar's determination and hard work haven't lingered.
The youngster made his debut for J&K in the 2018-19 season, participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), and Ranji Trophy. Dar's talent was recognized early on by the Mumbai franchise. In 2018, the Mumbai side acquired him for the 2019 season for ₹20 lakhs. At the young age of 17, Dar became the youngest player to debut for the franchise and only the third cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be picked in the IPL following Parvez Rasool's signing for the Pune team in 2011 and Manzoor Dar's joining the Punjab franchise in 2018.
However, his initial IPL stint was short-lived. He couldn't pick up any wickets and was soon benched. The subsequent ban imposed by the BCCI due to the birth certificate issue further challenged his career path. Initially named in the Indian U-19 squad, he had to be replaced after the ban.
Undeterred by the setbacks, Dar continued to hone his skills in domestic cricket. His talent shone through once again in 2022 when the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise picked him up in the IPL auction. Now, in the 2024 IPL season, he will be a part of the Delhi franchise team.
