Devdutt Padikkal is an Indian Cricketer who represents the Karnataka cricket team in domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League. After impressing for India Under-19, Syed Mushtaq Ali, and Ranji Trophy the Kerala-born left-handed batsman earned his maiden IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for INR 20 lacs in the 2019 IPL auction. After two impressive campaigns with RCB in an intense bidding war, he was snatched by Rajasthan Royals last season.
Born on July 7 in 2000, Devdutt Padikkal was 22-years-old before IPL 2023. The Indian international's height in feet is 5 feet 9 inches and his body weight is approximately 65 kg. He is unmarried and lives with parents and an elder sister.
Deemed the next big thing in Indian cricket, Devdutt Padikkal proved his worth in his debut campaign with the RCB where he racked up 473 runs at an average of 31.53, smashing five half-centuries.
Devdutt Padikkal became the top performer for RCB in that season. He maintained the same form in the following campaign as well amassing 411 runs with 1 century and 1 fifty. He broke the record of Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni to become the third quickest Indian player to breach the 1,000-run mark in IPL in 2021
Partnering with Jos Buttler, the Indian opener produced some remarkable performances in the IPL 2022 edition. Devdutt Padikkal scored 376 runs at an average of 22.12 with a strike rate of 122.88.
He won the Emerging Player Award for the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. On July 28, 2021, Devdutt Padikkal played in his first T20I for India against Sri Lanka.
