Nuwan Thushara IPL Profile

Born on August 1, 1994, in Colombo, Nuwan Thushara is a Sri Lankan cricketer who operates as a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He made his way into professional cricket through domestic performances. Thushara is well known for his potential to bowl at a brisk pace and swing the ball.

He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team during a T20 International (T20I) match against Australia on February 13, 2022. A few months later in the same year, in June 2022, he was named in Sri Lanka's One Day International (ODI) squad for their home series against Australia.

In February 2024, he was named in Sri Lanka's T20I squad for their tour to Bangladesh. In the subsequent month of the same year, during the third T20I match, he bagged his first hat-trick in Twenty20 Internationals and thus became the fifth Sri Lankan bowler to accomplish the feat. In the process, he also picked up his maiden fifer in T20I.

In October 2020, Nuwan Thushara was drafted by the Galle Gladiators for the first edition of the Lanka Premier League. He continued to play for the Galle Gladiators after being picked up again in the players' draft for the 2021 edition of the domestic T20 league. In July 2022, he signed by the team once more for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.

In a significant step forward in his cricketing career, Nuwan was acquired by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction for INR 4.8 crores. This development marked his entry into one of the world's most top-tier cricket leagues, offering him a perfect platform to express his skills on a larger international stage. He made his IPL debut against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
