Born on 10th November 2001 in Guwahati, Assam Riyan Parag is an Indian all-rounder who represents Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League. He bats in the lower middle order for the Rajasthan Royals and is an explosive hitter of the cricket ball. He is also a useful off-spinner and a gun fielder.
Parag's upbringing has been from a sports family. His father Parag Das is a former Assam Ranji cricket player and his mother Mithoo Barooah is a national record-holder swimmer. He started his cricketing career just at the age of 12 when he became a part of Assam's Under-16 side.
Just at the age of 15, Riyan Parag made his Twenty20 debut for Assam in the 2016–17 Inter-State Twenty-20 Tournament. The same year he was also drafted into the first-class team for Assam in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy. His impressive performance in both formats handed him a shot in the ICC Under-19 World Cup squad and he eventually helped the side land the trophy in 2018.
He also became the highest run-getter for Assam in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Following his continuous domestic success Rajasthan Royals handed him his first IPl contract ahead of the 2019 IPL season. He was signed at his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs.
He impressed in his debut campaign and hit his maiden fifty becoming the youngest player in IPL to hit a fifty in 2019. In IPL 2022, he made the record of taking 17 catches - the most by any non-wicketkeeper in the tournament. The all-rounder was bought back by the Royals at a cost of INR 3.80 crore at the IPL 2022 big auction.
