Thangarasu Natarajan is an Indian international cricketer who plays for Tamil Nadu domestically and Indian national team. He became the first Indian cricketer to make his international debut across all three formats on the same tour when he was playing in India's 2020–21 tour of Australia. He plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Born on 4 April 1991 in Salem, Tamil Nadu, Natarajan is 32 years of age at the time of IPL 2023. He is a left-arm medium-fast bowler and comes from a very humble background. His father worked as a porter at a railway station while his mother used to run a road-side snack stall. Natarajan, fondly called 'Nattu', is the eldest of five siblings, including three sisters.
Natarajan, initially, took up tennis-ball cricket as a hobby. He first came into some limelight when he represented the team of BSNL in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s fourth division league. Natarajan then played 1st division cricket for Vijay Cricket Club for almost a year. Later, he moved to Jolly Rovers, a popular club that has fielded big names like Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay.
Natarajan made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy on the 5th of January, 2015. Natarajan’s first breakthrough came in 2016 when he represented Dindigul Dragons in the inaugural edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He made his Twenty20 debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament on 29 January 2017.
He made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018. He was signed by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3 crores in 2017 and has been on the books of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2018.
