Tilak Varma IPL Profile

Born on November 08, 2002, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Tilak Varma is a left-handed batsman who represents Hyderabad in the domestic circuit and Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League. The young prodigy is a wristy batter and an explosive hitter playing in the middle order. He can also be useful with orthodox spin bowling and is also regarded as a brilliant fielder, making him an asset for any side.

Tilak made his First-Class debut for Hyderabad in the 2018-19 edition of the Ranji Trophy and T20 debut a year later. The Hyderabad all-rounder's career started on a bright note in the first two seasons of domestic cricket and it also earned him a place in Under-19 World Cup for India. However, he failed to make an impact. Tilak went on improving his game for his state team once again and the  2020-21 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, saw a glimpse of his best talents. He bagged five wickets and scored 180 runs in that series to catch the eye. In the same year, he also recorded 214 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament.

Over the back of his impressive outing, he was included in the auction ahead of the IPL 2022 and Mumbai Indians grabbed his services for Rs 1.7 crore, 8.5 times more than his base price. He lived up to the promises with flying colors in his debut campaign. In an otherwise torrid campaign for Mumbai Indians where they finished last on the points table, Tilak scored 397 runs. Following that Mumbai retained his services and he is a part of the IPL 2023 as well. The youngster is tipped to be the next big thing in Indian cricket in the coming years.
