Venkatesh Iyer IPL Profile

Venkatesh Iyer is an Indian cricketer who represents India internationally and Madhya Pradesh domestically. Iyer has been a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders since he was signed by the Kolkata franchise in 2021.

An aggressive left-handed batsman, Iyer is capable of playing in a range of positions. While he has operated as a lower-order batter for India, he has usually played top-order for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Iyer is also quite handy with the ball and is a right-arm medium fast bowler. With his all-round ability, he is quite useful in the short form of the game and is likely to be a key player for KKR in the 2023 IPL season.

Born on 25 December, 1994 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Iyer is 29 years of age ahead of the IPL 2023 campaign. He is blessed with a big frame of 6 feet 4 inches which makes him a difficult customer to bowl to. Iyer is capable of playing some unorthodox shots which makes him a menace for opposition bowlers.

In the IPL Auction 2023, KKR acquired the services of Venkatesh Iyer for Rs. 8 crore which shows how much faith the franchise has in the all-rounder despite his poor 2022 IPL campaign. Iyer was a revelation for KKR in 2021 and played a key role as they made it to the final but he failed to click in 2022.

Iyer has plenty to prove in the 2023 campaign following a disappointing 2022 season during which he scored just 182 runs in 12 games also failed to make a mark with the ball. Iyer impressed largely in his maiden IPL season which was the 2021 season. He scored 370 runs in 10 games for KKR during the 2021 season.
