Romario Shepherd IPL Profile

Born on 26 November 1994 in Georgetown, Guyana, Romario Shepherd is a professional cricketer for the West Indies national team who also plays for Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League. A tall and athletic-built fast bowler and a more than a useful lower-order batsman, Shepherd is another West Indies sensation in the shorter format of the game.

He started his career with age-group cricket for Guyana and consistent performances with both bat and ball gave him an opportunity in the Nagico Super50 tournament in 2016. He came into the limelight after some fine display in this series. He was awarded the Man of the Match award in his first game where he scalped 3 for 37 against Leeward Islands. He made his first class debut for the same side the following year and continued his impressive showings.

Since then he started coming up the ranks and eventually got a call-up to the national team in the ODI series against Afghanistan in 2019. He impressed on his debut game and picked up two wickets in a comfortable win against the Afghans. A year later he made his T20I debut against Ireland.

Shepherd has been in contention of the white ball formats since then and is going strong with each passing game. On the back of his meteoric rise, Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him ahead of the IPL 2022. However, he could only muster three games in the edition before getting released by the side ahead of another season. Lucknow Super Giants snapped him up in the mini auction next and he is now set to feature for them in IPL 2023.
