Abhishek Sharma IPL Profile

Abhishek Sharma is an Indian cricketer who plays domestic cricket for Punjab and is contracted to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Born on 4th September 2000 in Amritsar, Sharma is just 22 years of age at the time of IPL 2023. He is a left-hand hard-hitting lower-order batsman who also bowls fast and accurate left-arm spin.

Abhishek has a frame of 5 feet 7 inches and has a body weight of 65 kg. His father Raj Kumar Sharma is a former cricketer and is employed with Bank of India in Amritsar on the sports quota. He is also a former Punjab junior selector. 

Abhishek Sharma made his List A debut for Punjab in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017. He made his first-class debut for Punjab in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on 6 October 2017. Sharma also led India to victory in the U-19 Asia Cup in 2016 and was an integral part of the 2018 U-19 WC team that finished as the winners.

Abhishek first came into the limelight with a century on Under-19 debut for Punjab in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, before which he was the leading run-getter with 1200 runs at an average of 109.09 in the 2015-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, India's domestic U-16 tournament. 

In January 2018, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL auction for Rs. 55 lakh. On May 12, 2018, he made his Twenty20 debut, playing for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2018 and went on to score 46 runs off just 19 balls. Sharma has been with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2019 and the Hyderabad franchise had to splash Rs 6.5 Cr. for his services in IPL 2023 auction.
