Born on 20 December 1997 in Gopalganj, Madhya Pradesh, Mohammad Arshad Khan is a young left-handed all-rounder who represents his state team in the domestic circuit and Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League. Arshad is a handy lower-order batter with some explosive hits under his belt while his utility seam bowling makes him an asset for any side.
Arshad started his cricketing journey in his formative years and he received his initial coaching comes from his father Ashfaque who was a coach with the Seoni District Cricket Association. At the age of just 14, the left-handed all-rounder made it into the U-16 team of Madhya Pradesh and three years later broke into the Under-19 side. After a couple of breakthrough displays, he earned a place on the Under-23 side in the 2017-18 season.
The Southpaw first caught the limelight in the 2020 edition of the U-23 CK Naidu tournament organised by BCCI. He picked up wickets for fun and scored some valuable runs to catch the eye. He finished the tournament as the top wicket-taker with 36 wickets, in addition to scoring 400 runs. His 86 runs off 54 balls against Mumbai in the tournament earned him a lot of praise.
On the back of his impressive display, he broke into the Madhya Pradesh side and made his List A debut on 24 February 2021 in the match of Tamil Nadu. His impressive outing also earned him a contract in Indian Premier League, with Mumbai Indians snapping him for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs in 2022. However, multiple injuries forced him to sit out of the IPL and the entire domestic campaign in 2022. Although, he is a part of the Mumbai Indians team for the 2023 edition.
