Mukesh Kumar is an Indian bowler cricketer, who plays for Bengal in domestic cricket in all three cricket formats. Kumar was born on October 12, 1993, in Gopalganj, Bihar, India. This typical right-arm seamer was shortlisted in the state trials run under Sourav Ganguly's Vision 2020 program by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after his father came to the city to drive a taxi to earn his livelihood.
Being impressed with his performances at the club level, Kumar was helped by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) as the pacer soon earned himself a spot in Bengal's Ranji Trophy squad in 2015. Mukesh soon made his first-class debut on October 2015 in a match against Haryana in Rohtak. And until the end of the 2021-22 season, he has played 34 FC matches in total, taking 130 wickets while giving runs at an economy of 2.71. Meanwhile, Kumar played his first List A match (one-day match) on December 2015 in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The following year, Mukesh made his Twenty20 debut on January 2016 in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Kumar was praised for his performance in the format as well. He eventually became a regular face in the Bengal side by the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. His spell came in a 6-61 spell as he crushed the star-studded Karnataka batting lineup, which included KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, and Karun Nair. His impressive performance helped Bengal to reach the finals.
As a result of his constant efforts and dedication, Mukesh finally got a chance to be a part of the Indian cricket squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka in 2022. However, he didn't get to make his international debut then. However, in 2023, the seasoned domestic cricketer realised his India dream when he made his debut in all three formats in 2023 on the tour of West Indies.
In terms of his IPL career, Mukesh made headlines after trading for a hefty price in the 2022 IPL Auction. Notably, he joined Delhi Capitals for the 2023 IPL season and regularly featured for the side in his debut season with spell of 2/30 and 2/36 against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.
