Nathan Ellis is an Australian international cricketer, who was born on September 22, 1994, in Greenacre, New South Wales, Australia. Ellis is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and is known for his impressive death bowling skills in the Big Bash League (BBL). Notably, he was selected in the BBL even before making his List-A and first-class debut for his state team.
Ellis also became a part of the Hobart Hurricanes squad for the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy in 2018. The following year, Nathan made his List-A debut for Tasmania against Victoria on September 2019 in the 2019–20 Marsh One-Day Cup. He had a fantastic debut game, taking three wickets with a superb economy rate of only 3.96. He made his first-class debut on February 2020 for Tasmania in the 2019–20 Sheffield Shield season.
Nathan's outstanding BBL and domestic cricket performances helped him get a T20I call-up for Australia in 2021 for a series against Bangladesh. Ellis achieved a remarkable hat-trick and became the first bowler in T20I history to do so on the debut. In addition, he joined Brett Lee and Ashton Agar as the third cricketers from Australia to pick up a hat-trick in a T20I. Later the same month, Ellis was included in Australia's team for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup as one of three players serving as injury cover.
Ellis was called up as the replacement for Jhye Richardson in the 2nd Half of the 2021 IPL season for Punjab Kings. He made his debut for the Punjab Kings against Sunrisers Hyderabad in September 2021 in Sharjah
