Born on November 23, 1992, in Karnal, Haryana, Navdeep Saini is an Indian right-arm pace bowler. He represents Delhi in the domestic circuit and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. His ability to bowl deadly Yorkers at a super speed along with elaborate slow balls makes him a powerful weapon for any team he plays for.
Saini was hand-picked by Gautam Gambhir from the Delhi practice nets, and since then, his journey from nothing to the top has been amazing. With Gambhir's input, he was included in the Delhi Ranji team and he repaid the faith with some brilliant spells.
Saini took 34 wickets for Delhi Ranji in the 2017-18 season and became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He also became the leading wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare trophy 2018-19, recording 16 wickets in the tournament. He was snapped up by Delhi Daredevil’s franchise later in 2018.
Although he didn’t get many chances in the side. A year later he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in an intense bidding war that saw him got sold for a whopping amount of Rs. 3 crores. After three fruitful seasons with RCB, in the IPL 2022 season, Rajasthan Royals signed him for Rs. 2.2 crores. However, due to an injury, he could only play two games in the tournament.
His impressive performances in the domestic circuit and Indian Premier League earned him a call to the national side as well. He made his T20I and ODI debut against the West Indies in 2019. In 2021, he got his call up to the test side.
Aspiring cricketers might take inspiration from the success of the Karnal-born boy. He comes from a humble background. His father is a Haryana government driver while his grandfather was an independence activist and a part of Subhas Chandra Bose's Indian National Army.
