Prabhsimran Singh is an Indian cricketer, who plays for Punjab in domestic cricket. This right-handed young wicketkeeper-batter was born on August 10, 2000, in Patiala, Punjab, India. He is a cousin brother of Punjab Ranji cricketer Anmolpreet Singh, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2023 IPL season.
Prabhsimran started playing at an early age and scored a lot of runs for Punjab at different age levels. The 20-year-old batter made his debut in List A cricket in December 2018 against Afghanistan in the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The following year in 2019, Prabhsimran played his first T20 match against Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Meanwhile, Singh's first-class cricket debut happened on February 2022 against Himachal Pradesh in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy. In his maiden game, the pinch-hitter scored a rapid century.
Though Singh has made several achievements in his cricket career, he came into the limelight in an Under-23 district tournament in 2018. Notably, he smashed 298 from just 301 balls with 29 boundaries and 13 sixes in the event. The then-teenager's stellar performance attracted the attention of the selectors as he got the chance to be a part of the team for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.
His IPL selection came following his outstanding 2018 showcase and was picked by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) with a huge price tag of INR 4.8 crore. His debut came the season after as he played just one game in the 2019 season. He competed in his debut IPL game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in April.
IPL 2023 was his year of reckoning as the batter featured in all 14 games for the side, often playing the role of opener as he earned trust of the team management for his hitting abilities. The young batter brought up his maiden half century in the season against Rajasthan Royals, scoring 60 runs off just 34 balls. His first century came up in the same season as he slammed 65-ball 103 against Delhi Capitals.
