Born on 4 September 2000 Nehal Wadhera is an Indian cricketer who plays for Punjab in Domestic Cricket and Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman plays in the middle order and is known for his fearless and aggressive batting style. He is often referred to by the nickname ""new-age Yuvraj Singh"" due to his middle-order exploits and resemblance in batting technique to Yuvraj Singh.
Wadhera started playing cricket in his formative years and first broke into the U-16 Punjab squad in the 2015-16 season. He was quickly selected for the U-19 team two years later and competed in the Vijay Merchant Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy. He made a strong impression with 540 runs in the 2017–18 Cooch Behar Trophy, including six half-centuries. As a result, he was given a chance to play against Sri Lanka in 2018 with the Indian U-19 squad.
He continued his progress through the ranks in domestic colors and first came into the limelight with the Punjab U-23 side. He broke Brian Lara's record for the highest score in an innings in a four-day competition in April 2022 when he hit 578 runs in an innings during the semi-final of the Inter-District U-23 Cricket Championship. In the 2022-23 edition of the Ranji Trophy, he made his senior first-class debut and once again proved his class.
He amassed 123 runs against Gujarat in the debut match guiding Punjab to a 380-run victory. In just the third game of the tournament, he scored 214 runs against Madhya Pradesh. On the back of his exceptional rise, Mumbai Indians managed to pick him up from the mini-auction, signing him at his base price of Rs 20 lakhs for the 2023 IPL. He has impressed, with whatever little chances he got, with his performances in the IPL 2023.
