Andre Russell IPL Profile

Andre Russell is a West Indies cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Born on 29 April 1988 in Kingston, Jamaica, Russell is one of the most entertaining players in the history of IPL and is a reason why millions love to watch the game. He is a right-handed batsman who is blessed with a phenomenal range of shots. He is also an excellent right-arm fast bowler and has been one of the best all-rounders in the IPL.

Russell is blessed with a huge frame of 6 ft 1 in and has a body weight of 80 kg. The West Indies superstar currently is one of the busiest freelancers in the T20 leagues around the globe. Russell was part of 2012 and 2016 ICC World T20 winning West Indies sides and has played more than 300 T20 matches for a range of sides in leagues.

Russell won the IPL Super Striker award in 2019, awarded for having the highest strike rate in the tournament as he recorded a strike rate of over 205. He was also announced as the Player of the Tournament in that season.

Russell married American model Jassym Lora in 2016; the couple have a daughter. In the IPL Auction 2023, the Kolkata franchise acquired the services of Andre Russell for Rs 16.00 Cr.

In 2014, Russell began a second career as a recording artist under the name 'Dre Russ', with two singles released in November, one a collaboration with Beenie Man.

In IPL 2022, Russell scored 335 runs in 14 IPL games and his highest score was 70 not out against Punjab Kings. He recorded an average of 37.22 with a fantastic strike rate of 174.47. Russell also picked up 17 wickets during the last IPL campaign.
