Cameron Donald Green is an Australian international cricketer, who plays for Western Australia in domestic cricket. Green bowls right-arm fast-medium and bats right-handed. Initially an all-round bowler, he focussed on improving his batting after suffering a string of injuries. This young talent, who received accolades for several feats at a young age, was born on June 3, 1999, in Perth, Western Australia.
At the age of 17, Green made his first-class debut for Western Australia against Tasmania in February 2017. He became the youngest player to pick up a five-wicket haul in the Sheffield Shield season with his 5/24 in the first innings. His outstanding showing earned him a spot in the Big Bash League for the 2018–19 season. His debut came on January 2019 with the Perth Scorchers and has played for the franchise ever since.
Cameron's pinch-hitting talent came to the fore following his 197 runs from 438 balls against New South Wales in October 2020. The performance led to his first international call-up as he was selected for Australia's ODI for the series against India in October 2020.
Two months later, Green was chosen for Australia's Test team for the series against India in December 2020. He played his first test match in the second Test of the series, scoring 45 runs, and took two wickets. Green's performances in the series earned him a place in Australia's squad for the Test series against South Africa in February 2021. His T20I debut followed soon as Green played his first T20I match against Pakistan on April 5, 2022.
Cameron became a part of the IPL 2023 season after Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 17.5 crore (approximately $3.15 million AUD). Notably, he became the second most expensive overseas player in IPL auction history besides the most expensive Australian player. In the last IPL 2023 league game for Mumbai Indians, Green slammed an unbeaten century, his maiden IPL ton, and guided MI to the playoffs.
