Kagiso Rabada IPL Profile

Kagiso Rabada, a South African international cricketer, was born on 25 May 1995 in Johannesburg. Rabada is a right-arm fast bowler, who regularly bowls at an average speed of over 140kph. 

Rabada established an identity for himself as the most promising player at a young age due to his raw pace and was selected for South Africa's Under-19 team in the 2014 World Cup. He notably took six wickets against Australia in the semifinals while the South Africa eventually lifted the World Cup.

Rabada's astonishing performances did not go unnoticed as he secured a place in the national T20I, ODI, and Test squads. In November 2014, he played his first T20I against Australia in Adelaide.

Rabada then made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2015 and made the day memorable by claiming a hat-trick in the first outing. He became the second player after Taijul Islam to achieve the feat.

Rabada headed to play brilliantly in Test cricket as well and notably, in 2016, the pacer recorded his first ten-wicket haul in the format with 13 wickets in a match against England. 

Kagiso Rabada made his IPL debut in 2017 after Delhi Daredevils bought him at the auction for RS 5 crore. The first season was uneventful and a back injury forced him to miss the 2018 edition as well. 

He remained with the franchise and enjoyed an amazing partnership with compatriot Anrich Nortje as he scalped an amazing 55 wickets in two seasons. He won the Purple Cap in 2020 as well. He was released by DC ahead of 2022 mega auction, where he was bought by Punjab Kings.

Rabada's behavior on the pitch has always been controversial. He has often been accused of violating the ICC Code of Conduct and punished for it. In the 2018 home series against Australia, he even received a suspension for shouldering Steven Smith as he joined his teammates in celebrating the latter's wicket.
