Mohit Sharma, the right-arm medium-fast bowler from Haryana, burst onto the cricketing scene during the 2012/2013 Ranji Trophy season. Finishing as the fifth-highest wicket-taker with 37 wickets in just 8 matches, Mohit Sharma's talent was undeniable. However, it was his stint with the Chennai franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) a year later that truly put him to stardom.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Mohit Sharma flourished, utilizing his variations effectively with both the new and old ball. His success was immediate, with an impressive debut IPL season in 2013 where he picked up 20 wickets for the Chennai Super Kings. The following year, Sharma's prowess with the ball earned him the prestigious Purple Cap as the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2014, with 23 wickets to his name.

Sharma's stellar performances in the IPL caught the attention of the national selectors, leading to his maiden call-up to the Indian team for the 2013 ODI series against Zimbabwe. His consistent displays earned him a spot in India's squad for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand. Mohit Sharma made significant contributions, finishing as India's third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 13 scalps to his name.
