Born on 23 July 1990, Yuzvendra Chahal is an Indian legspinner who also plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Over the years, Chahal has gone on to establish himself as a bowler who beats the batsman with his variations. A match-winner on his day, he has been part of three Indian Premier League sides in his career so far.
Chahal was picked up by the Mumbai Indians in 2011 but didn’t feature much. His opportunity finally came in 2014 when Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him at the auction. Chahal soon established himself as Virat Kohli's go-to player throughout eight consecutive seasons.
In spite of this, RCB decided not to retain the wrist spinner ahead of the mega-auction in 2022. However, their loss proved to be Rajasthan Royals' gain.
The inaugural IPL champions splashed out Rs 6.5 Crores for his services which saw him picking up 27 wickets in 17 matches in IPL 2022 for Rajasthan Royals. He was the winner of the Purple cap in the 2022 edition with a hat-trick and five-wicket haul. He also broke Imran Tahir's record for most wickets recorded by a spinner in a single season in 2022 edition.
Virat Kohli's first-hand experience of handling him and his performance in the shorter version of the game led to his participation in the Indian side. He made his ODI and T20 debut against Zimbabwe in June 2016. With time, he has developed as a potent match-winner in white-ball format for India.
He was part of India's 2019 Cricket World Cup squad. Chahal experienced a memorable tournament, ending the campaign with 12 wickets before India lost to New Zealand in the semifinals.
Chahal is happily married to social media sensation and model Dhanashree. Both of them regularly create fun videos for their fans on social media platforms.
