Born on 3 December 1999 Ayush Badoni is a Delhi-based cricketer who currently plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. The young lad is a live wire in the field, a useful lower-order batsman with massive power-hitting skill. He is also a handy off-spin bowler with a knack to pick up wickets and breaking partnerships. All in all, he is a versatile player with the full package, making him a talent for the ages to come.
Badoni is a student of Tarak Sinha, who has coached Team India cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, and Ashish Nehra. The young prodigy first caught the eye during the India U-19 camp. Then the coach of the unit, Rahul Dravid got noticed the potential and included him in the national U-19 setup during the Asia Cup squad in 2018 but he could not make the cut for the U-19 World Cup team.
However, he continued working on his cricket and made his debut for Delhi in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Although he did not play in many games for his state, Lucknow Super Giants took a bet on him in the IPL 2022 auction, signing him for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.
In the first game against the Gujarat Titans, he immediately proved his worth with a half-century. In the second game against the Chennai Super Kings, he showed maturity and played a superb cameo. With Lucknow Super Giants needing 40 runs from 16 balls. Badoni helped his side win with an explosive knock of 19 runs from 9 balls. The youngster completed the campaign with 161 runs in 13 games. For the 2023 IPL season, he will again be a part of the LSG squad.
