Shubham Gill, an Indian international cricketer, is considered among the most talented young cricketers in the world. The top-order batter, who was born on 8 September 1999 in Firozpur, Punjab, is a right-handed batsman. Heo also bowls right-arm off-break at times.
Gill came into the limelight after scoring 372 runs in the ICC U19 World Cup 2018. Following his game-winning 102 not out against Pakistan U-19 in the semifinal, several great players including Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar lauded the raw talent. Notably, Gill was also the vice-captain during the tournament. His outstanding performance was also appreciated by ICC, who picked him in the 2019 ICC team of the tournament.
Gill continued to grow through the ranks of the Indian team as he scored a double ton (204) for India A against West Indies A in 2019; becoming the youngest Indian batter to do so in a first-class match.
Gill soon fought his way into the Indian team as well while seeing off cut-throat competition from the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw to establish himself as the first-choice opener in all formats by the beginning of 2023. This included string of good knocks, including a double ton against New Zealand in ODIs while setting the record as the youngest batsman to do so in the format.
His breakthrough ino the Indian team has a lot to do with his form in IPL as well, where he made his debut in 2018 as much-sought after player with Kolkata Knight Riders picking him up for Rs 1.8 crore. The KKR stint, however, saw him struggle and was soon let go by the franchise before the 2022 mega auction.
Newly-included Gujarat Titans made the most out of the situation by drafting the player before the auction for Rs 8 crore. Gill went on to become IPL champion for the first time in the subsequent season after finishing as the second top run-getter for the side.
Gill was speculated for monthts to be dating Sara Tendulkar, who is the daughter of cricket great Sachin Tendulkar. However, after Shubham was seen in public with Bollywood starlet Sara Ali Khan, the rumour of him dating quickly went down. Since then, the cricketer's name has been linked with both gorgeous divas as the player kept mum on his personal life.
